ABOUT
AJ Hardingson (she/they) is a proudly queer, mixed-race British Eurasian creative and author. As someone who grew up in a lot of intersections between binaries, it is perhaps no surprise that they have always been attracted to variety, never settling for a particular medium of writing. They have authored two plays, three short films, a radio drama, a dozen or more short stories and personal essays, and several hundred poems. Their work often incorporates themes of belonging and identity, diving into genres of historical fiction, fairytale, magical realism and fantasy, as well as more raw memoir-style work.
Amy is currently putting together their first collection of poetry, and working on a novel.
Amy has always enjoyed collaborating and working with other creatives and organisers. They had the privilege of being Writer in Residence at The Granary Creative Arts centre 2018-2020, and being mentored in the art of hosting creative workshops by Granary founder Kezia Hoffman. In 2019-2023, they were elected as a Town Councillor in Totton and Eling which opened doors to organising creative community projects, such as the Totton Train Station Mural. Amy plans to continue running creative workshops and community projects locally in the Southampton and New Forest areas.
They also run a freelance copywriting business, lead the Community Rail Adoption Team for Totton Train Station, and are one of the founders of Boost Totton and Eling - the campaign to increase climate resilience and improve wellbeing in our local area.
